The Military Entrepreneur’s Guide to Patriot Boot Camp with Jen Pilcher

The Military Entrepreneur’s Guide to Patriot Boot Camp with Jen Pilcher

Entrepreneurship is growing within the military community. It’s a career path that both Veterans and Milspouses are taking based on the experience and lifestyle that come with military service.   Veterans struggle to find jobs that they’re qualified for, has comparable pay and that have the same level of responsibility. Which is leading more and more veterans to start their own business. At least half of the active Servicemembers I coach want to talk about starting a business after the military.   Additionally, many military spouses struggle with underemployment or unemployment due to their spouse’s military career. Because of this many milspouses are creating businesses that are PCS proof. They’re creating something they can take with them wherever the military sends them.   I started my financial coaching business out of the frustration of balancing my employment with my husband’s military career. I wanted to take ownership and control of my career. So I started a business. And I know I am not alone in this.   Which brings me to my show today. Today starts a series I’m doing on military entrepreneurship. There are a lot of people out there thinking about starting a business and I know what that’s like. Until I got into the business of starting a business, I didn’t realize the level of work it would take or all that was out there to help me.   In this series, I’m going to be talking with entrepreneur experts from all over the military community. We’ll be talking about: how to get training to start your business, how to fund your business and the different types of businesses you can start—plus a bunch more.   My guest today, Jen Pilcher is here to help me kick it all off.   Jen Pilcher is the CEO of Patriot Boot Camp (PBC) and the founder of MilitaryOneClick and Milspousefest. She is one of the nation’s foremost thought leaders on engaging the military and veteran communities. Through 15+ years of marketing and media experience and as a Navy spouse, she develops outreach programs and authentic content that empower the lives of service members, veterans and military spouses.   In this episode, Jen and I talk about:
  • What Patriot Boot Camp is and who it’s for
  • How PBC can help you start and/or build a business
  • Acceptance, location, and costs
  • What to expect at PBC
  • How do you get involved in the military entrepreneurship community
